1. What was it like before the war? What were the causes of the war? Before the war and at the beginning of the war? What was the common conception of the war?
Response: Our economy was not severed as badly as it was during the war. Johnsons Great Society programs helped the country a lot during the first two years of his presidency, but when the war had to be financed our economy took a dive. Mr. Bob, our veteran really opened my eyes on to how life was after the war for veterans. He told us about an incidence that he got spit arriving home from the war and he said that one incident still wakes up a fire in him. This shows how people felt about the war and the strong actions that happened from those feelings. Its known as the only war we have truly lost, and we Americans feel very strongly about winning everything.

Response: We learned a lot on what Vietnam life was like during the war and how that affected the veterans fighting at that time. The weather in Vietnam was not at all ideal, Mr. Bob talked about the rains and how it was always muggy and wet pretty much everywhere they went. Agent orange was a big deal at that time, which affected lots of veterans and affected life when they returned home. The situation here at home in America was not very ideal. The protest going on for bringing back our troops because americans believed this is not a war we should not be fighting. They were not treated with any respect because of people opinion on the war.
3. After war in the United States, how was life different and how was it the same? What changed and what remained the same? Were soldiers treated well when they returned home?
Response: Life was never going to be the same due to the conditions on which troops fought. This was the war that americans felt like we should have kept our nose out of. Some after affects were things like the end of the draft which was considered huge for this country. The end of the draft was more popular with wifes and mothers. What happened with China was huge for the country after the Vietnam war. The watergate scandal shaped politics for years to come after the war and some believe it was partially due to the war. In our interview, we were given a first hand account on how Mr. Bob was treated very poorly the second the stepped out of the airplane and into the airport. He was spit on and those kinds of actions were what caused great controversy after for a long period of time.
