Background on the Interviewee:
John Rees was a veteran in the First Gulf War and is currently a teacher of Lessons of Vietnam at GHHS. He had plans to go to college but after dropping out, he enlisted and served as a medic for five years. He lived outside of Detroit, MI. His grandfather served in WWII. He chose the army and medical corps because he originally wanted to be a firefighter, however that position was not offered in the military so he was certified as a medic. During his time in the military, he was exposed to a variety of cultures and backgrounds that was never experienced back at home. Many combatants relied on the medical fields for saving and improving lives.
