Background Information and Narrative
In the 1950s serious tensions were breaking out in South East Asia between French and Vietnamese. Ending in 1954 Vietnam split in two at the 17th parallel. Northern Vietnamese, known as the Viet Cong, wanted to reunite their country under communist control which led to increased tensions between many world super powers including the United States. Many policies including containment led to US deployment in Vietnam.
The War in Vietnam impacted attitudes and policies in which are still relevant in today's America and world. The way in which this country has conducted war and felt with mainstream media has been forever changed. 50 years since US troops committed combat in Vietnam, critical questions are still frequently asked. Throughout our research and podcast we hope to go over these questions and figure out the true Veterans experience.
